Not just on Earth Day, every day.
Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd. Many people all over the world use this day to celebrate our planet and raise awareness for all to take care of Mother Earth. Although this day is special, is it important to celebrate not just on April 22nd, and not just during the month of April, but every single day of the year. While our planet is thriving in some ways, it is hurting in many other ways. Our oceans and lands are polluted, deforestation is happening every single day, and ecosystems are destroyed. Let's put the work in to ensure we are all doing our part to help save the Earth. Sign petitions, practice the 3 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle), volunteer with an environmental group, vote with your dollar, pick up trash when you see it, support regenerative organic farms, and if you eat meat, make an effort to cut down or purchase meat from fair farms. These are just a few ways you can do your part every single day!
Chiki is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. 1% for the Planet membership is a commitment to accountability, partnership building and doing better for people and planet. They are doing great work for our Earth!
We are so happy to be partnered with Rainforest Partnership through 1% for the Planet. Not just earth month, not just Earth day, but every day!
Come see us at Booth #N1736, located in "Hot Products" at North Hall on Level 200!
We will be meeting lots of new people and sharing about Chiki's sustainability and celebration of Latin culture, bringing all the energy and vibras! We can't wait to see everybody.
Stay Chiki, Keep Booming!
]]>Dr. Bronner's recently tweeted a blog by Corporate Accountability Lab (CAL) about Greenwashed & Laborwashed chocolate. This piece is an important read-- in 2023, too many companies are labeling themselves as sustainable, when in reality, there are major flaws to be looked at. It is now trendy for companies to practice sustainability, which is generally a great thing, because companies are making efforts to be better. But we must look at companies, especially major corporations with long histories of wrongdoing, with a magnifying glass when it comes to certifications, and in this case, "certification schemes" and "corporate-run sustainability programs" (CAL).
Companies like Nestle have a dark history in the chocolate world. They have been heavily involved in slave labor and extreme human rights abuses, as well as destruction of the environment, for decades. The commodity of cacao has been involved in countless human rights abuses and we need to pay attention. There are many companies that make chocolate the right way, like Dr. Bronner's, Alter Eco, and Equal Exchange.
Always make sure that you're buying chocolate that uplifts and supports their workers and the environment. Remember that Nestle, as well as Mondelez (who owns Cadbury, Toblerone, Milka, and more), are still harming people & planet. We strongly agree with CAL on the matters of needing standards in sustainability. We urge you to read CAL's blog below.

Chiki was honored to be a grant recipient of the Tequila Don Julio Fund grant program. We were chosen for our commitment to our culture, community and planet, as we commit to excellence in our craft por amor (for the love) every day.
The Tequila Don Julio Fund was started in honor of the Tequila Don Julio founder’s entrepreneurial spirit, which our own founders connect with deeply. For the year 2022, The Tequila Don Julio Fund partnered with the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) to encourage Hispanic entrepreneurs to apply for the grant program. After many applications were reviewed, Chiki’s CEO and Co-Founder, Andres Izquieta, was chosen as one of five grant recipients of The Tequila Don Julio Fund grant program.

]]>Tropical rainforests make up less than three percent of the Earth's surface area, yet they are disproportionately critical to the balance and well-being of the entire planet with a crucial role in regulating global climate cycles and protecting biodiversity. Despite this outsized impact and importance, the world is losing about 10,000 acres of Amazon rainforest a day.
Chiki’s donations will support Rainforest Partnership’s projects in Ecuador, such as the “Women of the Rio Napo” project through which they partner with women of five indigenous communities along the Napo River in the Ecuadorian Amazon to support sustainable livelihoods and community-led rainforest conservation. Rainforest Partnership also supports biodiversity expeditions in little-explored areas of the Tropical Andes and supports community-led agroforestry and bio-enterprises to build economic resilience among local and indigenous rainforest communities.
“We are elated to support Rainforest Partnership, an organization that aligns with our own passion for the environment,” says Andres Izquieta, Founder/CEO of Chiki. “Their powerful, meaningful work creates tangible results for rainforests, for rainforest communities, and for the planet, and we can’t think of a better partnership.”
“Chiki Chiki Boom Boom shares our vision for protecting precious natural resources like tropical rainforests,” says Rainforest Partnership CEO Niyanta Spelman. “We are grateful for support that helps us create long-term, sustainable rainforest protection and restoration as part of our direct work with indigenous and local communities. Partnerships with purpose-driven organizations such as Chiki will accelerate the scale of impact for tropical rainforests and the entire planet."

About Rainforest Partnership
Rainforest Partnership is an international nonprofit that protects and conserves tropical rainforests, critical assets in the climate crisis. Working directly with indigenous and local communities as guardians and economic participants, their integrated approach supports sustainable livelihoods, thriving biodiversity, and long-term forest protection. Founded in 2007, Rainforest Partnership addresses the challenge of deforestation by centering the needs and rights of those on the frontlines of rainforest protection—Indigenous peoples and local communities—to support resilient communities, preserve and regenerate ecosystems, and create long-lasting conservation impact in the Amazon and beyond.
